Types of corridors Corridors are often thought of as being linear features
but this does not have to be the case. Small patches can be corridors
if they provide important connections to larger areas. This means they
create a 'stepping stone' effect. Dendy's
(1987) definition of a wildlife corridor is that it is 'a narrow strip,
stepping stone or series of stepping stones of hospitable territory traversing
inhospitable territory providing access from one area to another'. There are three basic types of corridor. These are:
