Advantages and disadvantages of corridors

Advantages of corridors

Corridors can aid dispersal of species and gene flow between populations, and allow recolonisation due to disturbance. This means that they help in the persistence of species in the landscape (Baudry and Merriam, 1987).

Disadvantages of corridors

Corridors are not always beneficial to maintaining biodiversity because they can aid the spread of pests, disease and fire. They can also sometimes be too narrow to provide valuable habitat.
