Extent of human disturbance
Hobbs
and Hopkins (1990) described 4 main consequences of human modification
of the landscape determined by the extent of human disturbance. These
are:
- complete removal of vegetation
- replacement of vegetation
- utilisation
- conservation
The effects of disturbance can range from small
to large-scale destruction. The extent of modification influences ecosystem
processes found within the land use types.
