based on disturbance
Disturbance is the major cause of change and can be
natural or human.
Natural disturbance
Natural disturbance takes the form of fire, flooding, volcanic activity,
hurricanes, tornados and cyclones.
Human disturbance
Many of the major disturbances influencing recent landscapes are anthropogenic
in origin. One of the most important elements determining the appearance
and functionality of the landscape is human influence. Humans disrupt
natural processes such as fire and flooding.
This means that the pattern found in the landscape
