Attribute accuracy

Attribute accuracy relates to the accuracy of labelling an attribute correctly.

One form of attribute accuracy is classification accuracy. Classification accuracy is a function of:

  • Number of classes

  • Shape of area

  • Size of area

  • The way test points are selected

  • Classes that are confused with other classes

Accurately locating the boundaries that define areas and labelling those areas can be difficult because boundaries often do not exist even though they are mapped as sharp lines. This is a problem that occurs in both vector and raster systems.
