Processes associated with land clearance

Zipperer (1993) described additional processes associated with land clearance of forested areas, which can cause changes in landscape structure:

  • internal clearing

  • indentation

  • cropping

  • complete removal

The fact that there are a number of different processes that can cause landscape change highlights the complexity of trying to understand the impacts of human disturbance on landscapes.
