Assignment 2

Stakeholders profile

Due dates Wednesday of week 5
Length 3,000 - 5,0000
Value 30%
Purpose

This assessment item will help you prepare for Assignment 3. By investigating the perspectives of stakeholders, you will be in a position to make feasible recommendations in your environmental management plan that address the needs and interests of stakeholders.

Task Prepare an essay comparing the perspectives of the three key rangeland stakeholder groups: Indigenous people, pastoralists and conservation/biodiversity managers. Identify areas of conflict and common ground in their approaches to land management principles and practices, and provide a historical context for the current perspectives.
Preparation Starting with literature resources listed and available expert tutors, you will be required to thoroughly research and then describe the current position(s), the historical context of this current position, as well as likely predictions of their position on future developments.

Identify areas of potential conflict and areas of common ground in approach to land management principles and practices. This investigation may lead to many areas of investigation, but we would like you to develop a paper that sets the context for your scoping document.

This paper will provide the social and management context to the technical problem of natural resource management.

Presentation This assignment will take the form of an essay. Submit your essay according to the instructions outlined in "Delivery and submission of assessment items".

After you have submitted your assignment and received a grade and feed-back you are invited to post your essay to the Classroom, so that other students may benefit from your research and the insights gained. It is not compulsory, however, to post to the Classroom.
