Whole landscape approach
| The New England Tablelands are found in north east New South Wales. The area is of relatively high altitude (mostly greater than 1000m) and it crosses the Great Dividing Range. It is situated in a subhumid region, which has cool winters and mild summers (McIntyre and Barrett, 1992). |

An integral part of this study was that pattern and process are related in the landscape and that changes in the disturbance regime are responsible for changes in structure and therefore changes in the processes that operate within grassland landscapes. This being the case, it is important to study whole landscapes, and to look at all the interrelated factors that go towards making up the landscape, if sustainable management is to be achieved.
