While undertaking your research project you will be required to identify and then locate key literature, people and equipment in order to implement your research plan. To help you do this within the time-frame of your candidature, and with the best possible outcomes for you, you should take advantage of the following resources and facilities.

Previous Research Project Proposals

Students in past years have chosen a range of topics to study. You can view or download previous project proposals (Word document) by clicking on this link.

Workshops

The unit coordinator will facilitate workshops for Research Project Students during Semesters 1 and 2 each year - depending on demand from enrolled students. The agenda for each meeting is set in consultation with the attendees. Attendance is entirely voluntary, however past students agree that the Workshops have proved interesting and helpful.

Aims: The aims of the workshops are to provide:

  • morale and intellectual support in the research process

  • opportunities to learn about research by being part of the process of a number of research projects

  • a forum in which to seek, and provide, advice on any aspect of research

  • a timeframe to assist with meeting deadlines and milestones

  • a forum in which to test ideas

  • an opportunity to extend your professional network (ie your student peers)

Topics: Topics focussed on during previous workshops have included:

  • feed-back and update sessions on project proposals

  • aspects of the supervision and how to get the most from your supervisor

  • reports on the outcomes of analysis and field trips

  • how to approach writing
