Creating digital data sets

Tools to enter spatial data include:

  • Digitisers. A map is placed on a digitising table and a puck or cursor is used to trace map features. The cross hairs of the puck are placed over points lines and polygons so that they record coordinate information for the map objects.

  • Scanners create a raster digital image of a map

  • Key board. Someone can type in the necessary data
