Consider the four avenues of heat transfer, and think about going into a bathroom on a cold morning. Assuming that there is no sunlight coming in the window or any other external source of heat, then every object in the bathroom (except you) should be at the same temperature. Your bare feet are comfortable standing on a floor mat. Now think about sitting on the toilet seat. Do you think that will be as comfortable as your feet are? It is likely that it will feel very cold to you, but if you measure the temperature of the floor mat and the temperature of the toilet seat they would be the same. Think about the four mechanisms of heat transfer and discuss why the toilet seat feels so cold.

Now consider your choice if you live in a hot sunny but calm desert. Which coloured goats should you buy, and why?
