Studying from Darwin
If you want to do evening classes, not for university credit, a series
of five two hour classes are held in the SAIKS Seminar Room, Casuarina
campus, building 30 in March and April each year. Students are taught
concurrently with the enrolled students. The cost is $440 which
includes books and a CD.
If
you want to study for credit, you can enrol in a Bachelor of Indigenous
Knowledges (BIK), a Graduate Certificate
Yolŋu Studies (GCYS) or a Graduate Diploma in Indigenous
Knowledge (GDIK, if you are a graduate). Let us know (yolngustudies@cdu.edu.au)
that you are intending to enrol, and then apply for admission online,
or by coming in to the faculty.
(If you just want to study one unit, it is in fact
cheaper to enrol in the whole award, and pay the fees for one semester,
than it is to enrol in a single unit.)
Using the online admission facility for undergraduate students
or postgraduate
students apply for admission through SATAC into the Bachelor of
IK or the Grad Cert in Yolŋu Studies (or another award). When you
have been given the go-ahead, you will be given an enrolment number.
Enrol in CAS110 Introduction to Yolngu Languages and Culture.
If you want to study Yolŋu languages and culture as
part of an award from another faculty or another university, speak to
your course coordinator about the possibility of crediting SAIKS units
to your award.
Studying from outside Darwin
If you want to enrol with the School of Australian
Indigenous Knowledge Systems at CDU, you can enrol in a Bachelor of
ICNRM, a Graduate Certificate of Yolŋu Studies (if you are a
graduate), or any number of other awards at SAIKS (see below) or other
faculties (see the CDU website).
Using the online admission facility for undergraduate students
or postgraduate
students apply for admission into the Bachelor of IK, Grad Dip IK,
the Grad Cert in Yolŋu Studies (or another award). When you have
been given the go-ahead, you will be given a student number. Enrol in
CAS110 Introduction to Yolŋu Languages and Culture.
If
you are already enrolled at another university, and would like to study
Yolŋu Languages and Culture and credit it towards your degree, contact
your course coordinator and ask about cross-institutional study from
the cdu website in current students->forms. All the online units are
available at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Confirm with us
that you are allowed to study our units. Forms for cross-institutional
study may be downloaded from www.cdu.edu.au from current students,
forms.
Studying from overseas
You can enrol in either a Graduate Certificate in
Yolŋu Studies (4 units or 40 credit points), or a Graduate Diploma in
Indigenous Knowledge (8 units or 80 credit points). Both
programs articulate into other awards if you choose to study further.
Using the online admission facility for international
students apply for admission into the Grad Cert in Yolŋu Studies
