Members of your group will need to assume the following roles
Discussion Leader
moderates the conversations discussions,
keeps the group on task,
assures work is done by all, and
makes sure all have opportunity to participate and contribute
Recorder/checker: Keeps track of:
unresolved issues,
records group strategies,
maintains archives of all work sheets and electronic files, and
convenes the group outside of class as necessary.
Accuracy Coach/summariser
Summarises the groups discussions and conclusions
probes for group understanding and
makes sure that all team members are familiar with all aspects of the project.
Timekeeper
makes sure the group stays on schedule – for the current group meeting and for the project as a whole.
attempts to keep communication channels open by encouraging or facilitating the participation of others ("we haven't gotten the ideas of Mr. X yet," etc.) or by proposing regulation of the flow of communication ("why don't we limit the length of our contributions so that everyone will have a chance to contribute?" etc.)
If numbers allow:
Skeptic.
challenges group consensus, and
poses alternative solutions or different ways to think about the problem.

takes note of what information needs to be communicated to the external student in the group and
