Risk Management

1. How does database recover fit in with risk management strategies?

Showme

As discussed in the Security topic, eliminating all data security risks to an organisation is usually prohibitively expensive. Instead the risk needs to be managed, that is having an acceptable risk at the lowest possible price. Backup and recovery procedures are an important part in managing the risk – if done properly they ensure that while a business may lose some data they won’t lose all data.

With backup and recovery procedures there is a trade-off. The more extensive these procedures are the more expensive they are in terms of resources (both human and technical). Again it is about managing the risk.
