Getting Help

What is Learnline?
Learnline is the name of CDU’s online learning environment and includes Blackboard, Online Classroom, CDU's web server and CDU's media streaming server.

Activation of your student account
Students must first activate their Charles Darwin University computer account before they access Learnline. You can activate your student computer account using the general access computers at the Information Centre, Orange 1, in the Library, Red 8, or at the Support Desk at Casuarina campus. If you have access to your own computer, all you need is access to the internet.

Alternatively, you can use any of the computers in the general purpose labs. You can log on to them through the user account ‘kiosk’ with the password ‘cdukiosk’.

Go to the Student Identity Manager website. Enter your student number preceded by a lower case ‘s’, i.e. s123456 to check your status of your account. It will prompt you to activate your account, unless you have done so previously.

If you have previously activated your computer account and know your password, you can change your password on the same site. If you do not know your password for a previously activated account, you will need to contact the Help Desk on 08 8946 6600 during business hours.

What's my username?
Your username is your student ID preceded by a lower case 's', i.e. s123456.

What is my password?
The password you use is the one you chose when you activated your student account.

What computer requirements do I need before I can use Learnline?
See the "Learnline computer requirements" page for system requirements

If I enrol online how long will it take to access the units on Learnline?
You will be able to access the units you have enrolled in the day after you have enrolled online. Note that access is semester based, so if you enrol for the year, only the units for the current semester are accessible from the time the semester starts.

What is the first day I can access my Learnline units?
Learnline units become available to you by the first day of the semester. If you are not sure when your semester starts, please visit the site CDU Important Dates.

How do I know if my unit it is on Learnline?
You should check each unit on the unit search website. Alternatively, contact 24 hour Learnline Support For Students Tel: 1800 55 9347 Email: learnlinesupport@cdu.edu.au.

Do I have to wait until the first day of semester to access information on Learnline?
The lecturer will decide whether they want their unit to be available to students prior to the first day of semester. Where units are available early, students should not assume that lecturers will be available prior to the first day of semester.

Why can't I see my other units on Learnline?
If your unit has a Learnline component and it is not visible you need to contact your lecturer. Alternatively, contact 24 hour Learnline Support For Students Tel: 1800 55 9347 Email: learnlinesupport@cdu.edu.au.

Learnline or print-based? Find out if your unit has a Learnline component or print-based materials by visiting the unit search website. Each unit indicates the relevant learning method:

Note: for external mode, the most commonly used delivery method is Learnline. If an external mode unit also indicates that print-based materials will be sent to you, these materials are supplementary only, and your main method of learning will be via Learnline. Do not wait until your print materials get sent to you, as this will delay your studies. Should you have any queries regarding your learning method please contact student.admin@cdu.edu.au or call the Information Centre on freecall 1800 061 963.

I cannot log into Learnline, what should I do?
If you are still not able to gain access, call the IT Support Desk on 08 8946 6600.

Who is my lecturer?
Open your unit in Learnline and navigate to ‘Staff Information’ to view contact details of your lecturer/s.
