Academic works are not exempt from evaluation at all. Good, accurate books, articles or webpages can, for instance, still be of little practical help for certain essay topics as far as their scope is concerned. Or they may be very current, written by authors with high academic qualifications and expertise, and yet be biased and misleading on a debatable issue. The academic world is full of heated debates, and a properly informed evaluation should keep that in mind.
