Finding relevant journal articles
The Library subscribes to several periodical/journal databases. The databases index thousands of journals covering a variety of subject areas. To find journal articles on your topic, use the Library's databases. You may need to use more than one database to find all the information you need.
Many databases provide the fulltext of an article; others will only provide the article title, author, journal details and, possibly, an abstract.
You can use Summon to search across a range of databases. See our Searching Summon page.
You can access the periodical/journal databases from the Library’s Databases webpage. You can select the first letter of the name of a database.

You can also search for subject specifc databases by going to the subject Libguide on the library website. Select a guide on your topic then seach the databases listed.

Once you have selected an appropriate database you can start your search.

Search tip
Review articles review the current body of scholarly research on a particular topic and include extensive bibliographies. To locate a review article combine the search term review with your topic terms.
This strategy works quite well when searching the ISI Web of KNOWLEDGE databases. Try the tutorials below if you would like more information on a particular database:
- Work through the Databases module of the Researching Skills page (the CDU online information literacy tutorial)
