Compiling a list of keywords

Once you have a clear idea of what the key topic is, consider synonyms or words of similar meaning.

For example:

Aspect 1 Aspect 2 Aspect 3
global warming climactic change cereal crops
greenhouse effect climate
rainfall
weather
cereals
rice
wheat
grain

The key terms and synonyms that you define become the keywords used to search for information on your topic.

It is also important to consider variations of spelling, for example, the following two words can be spelled in two ways:

  • advertizing/advertising
  • behaviour/behavior
