What to do if your Online Classroom goes down

Collaborate presenters should ensure that they have an alternative method of communicating with their participants in the event of a failure.

These may include:

  • immediately post an announcement into Learnline
  • email your students from Learnline
  • post your presentation slides into Learnline (up to 20mb - please remove these slides within 5 days of the lecture
  • use the discussion forums (or blogs/wikis) in Learnline to continue a discussion after letting students know you are cutting over from the Online Classroom to Learnline via an announcement
  • post an announcement in Learnline and reschedule your Online classroom
  • contact Collaborate support (see below)

If your Collaborate Online classroom happens to go down, here are some of the steps we recommend you follow to get connected:

  • wait a few minutes and then try logging into the classroom again
  • check your student email for notification / advice from your lecturer
  • check the announcements in Learnline
  • if your computer has crashed and you are unable to reboot, see if you can use another computer
  • login to Learnline and see if the presenter has posted an announcement about an outage
  • contact Collbaorate support (see below)
